*Giving Elves*

There are so many fun and magical ways for Elf Apprentices to give to others, but probably the best way for Elf Apprentices to learn about the power of giving is by hands on giving in your local community.

*We will keep adding more and more giving ideas! If you have ANY ideas that you think we should list please let us know!*

*Nursing Homes*

*One thing we do is the giving tree for our local nursing home residents. There are many residents in nursing homes that have nearly been all but forgotten by their families and it is a very sad time of the year for them. You can bring a little joy into their Christmas this year with a few simple gifts. Nearly all nursing homes have some kind of gift giving program, so just call your local nursing home for details.*

*Blessing Bags*  For the Homeless

One easy but meaningful way to help those on the street is by keeping Blessing Bags around. They cost little to make, and mean a lot to those you give them to. You can fill  up gallon bags to keep in your car’s trunk, or smaller quart-sized bags in your walking bag.

Here’s some ideas for what to include:

  • Nonperishable food like trail mix, granola bars, beef jerky, crackers, ect.
  • Small toiletries: chapstick, deodorant, mouthwash, toothbrush and toothpaste, and soap
  • Tissues and band-aids
  • Roll of coins for laundry, bus fare, and payphones
  • Hand wipes
  • Pair of warm socks
  • Starbucks gift card
  • Friendly note of encouragement

*Here at the Elf Certified Workshop we love the blessing bag idea! We are going to be making some of these up with a fun Christmas theme and give them out people we see while we are out Christmas shopping this year. We'll be sure to share pictures of our bags too!*
